If you are remodelling, repairing, or reconstructing your property, the portion that consists of the construction of seismic components is excluded from valuation.
Seismic Construction only refers to the elements of the project that are certified as retrofitting components. It does not include other elements of remodelling or repair such as electrical, plumbing or other finishing materials.
Example: If you expend $100,000 to remodel, repair or reconstruct your property, and it is deemed that $25,000 consisted of seismic safety construction, then that $25,000 is excluded from valuation.
